Hunt Settlement: Or Old Hebron, as it came to be called was a heavily wooded and a very hilly area of Kentucky. Deer, Panthers, and other wildlife were often seen near their home. Their pigs roamed the woods and grew fat heating the hickory nuts that fell from the trees. Huntsettlement; and the church and school which were built shortly after their arrival are still standing and are now owned by the Hunt family organization.
Three children were born to John Hunt Jr. and Jane Coats prior to Amos. They were:
Enoch Hunt, born 24 June 1812
Elizabeth Hunt, born 27 September, 1815
Wilson Hunt, born 22 May 1817.
Here Amos grew, worked and played with his brothers and sisters. Three other children joined the family in the next few years.
Cena Hunt, born 9 November 1821
William Bradford Hunt born 27 March 1824
Jonathan Hunt born 20 march 1826.
